Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The system has been improved in three areas: the facial expression analysis, facial recognition component, and the speaking assessment also had its evaluation criterion expanded. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, in the final year of our project, it was difficult to present our findings at domestic and international conferences, unfortunately many of our conferences were cancelled. Due to that fact, I extended our initial three-year project by applying for a one year extension, and then added another year. During the additional year, we were able to present at three international and one national online conference. In this final year, we will complete our research and present our findings via online conferences.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The coronavirus pandemic has hindered our ability to conclude research with human subjects and present at international conferences. This will be completed in the additional year.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We will improve our system in the three following areas: the facial expression analysis will be improved with AI, requiring less personal data, as well as the facial recognition component. The increase of evaluation criterion in the rubric will increase the accuracy of the system.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, research and publication of findings were impeded. The remaining funds will be spent for completing the research and presenting the findings at online conferences.
