Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We completed the creation of the psychometric instrument, the Linguaculture Motivation Profiler. We collected sample responses to test the item validity. We performed 7 rounds of factor analysis to create final version. It measures engagement, resistance and "mixed states" (when learners resist and engage at the same time.)
We introduced this instrument at numerous conferences, including the Japan Association of Language Teachers. We published two research articles that describes the instrument and how it is used--one in English and one in Japanese. We held workshops to introduce this research at Learning Circle events at the Japan Intercultural Institute.
Throughout this research process, we have made the instrument available to all teachers who request it.
