Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have, to date, conducted testing at 9 elementary schools (7 under the provision of the Kakenhi grant) in the Akita-city region, and tested over 1000 individual students.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
While we had hoped to have conducted testing at 2-3 more schools by now, we nevertheless cannot complain, as the work we have done has been mostly at larger schools, so the overall rate of subject recruitment has not been diminished significantly.
We have encountered a constraint on arranging testing dates with schools. Most elementary schools seem to be more receptive to scheduling us in the fall than in the spring, which has created a bottleneck effect in the scheduling attempts (i.e., all the schools try to schedule testing dates around the same time of year).
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We are planning to test a maximum of one more school, subject to availability. This year will mostly be focused on analyzing and interpreting data, and then reporting said data. We are planning to report at one regional (e.g., JALT) and one international (e.g., TESOL) conference, respectively.
|
Causes of Carryover |
To subsidize continued testing and publication efforts.
