Outline of Final Research Achievements

By focusing on the concept of "resilience" in evolutionary economic geography, this study aimed to construct a model of the evolutionary process of industrial regions while making an international comparison of industrial regions and the company towns.
This study summarized previous studies in evolutionary economic geography and showed that the concept of regional resilience is not limited to short-term fluctuations such as recovery from shocks, but has been extended to include long-term regional growth paths.
The study also examined the industrial transformation process in company towns and industrial regions in Japan, Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, the U.S., and Spain, and examined its relevance to regional resilience.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
