Outline of Final Research Achievements |
I developed a general equilibrium model of monopolistic competition that takes into account both income and productivity distributions. In a general non-CES setting, the reservation price of a consumer for each variety depends on the price distribution (and thus the productivity distribution) of firms, as well as on his/her income. Therefore, firms with different productivity levels, which face consumers with different incomes, effectively choose the number of consumers who purchase their products by setting their own prices. I showed in this setting that the profit-maximizing price of each firm depends not only on its own productivity and the productivity distribution, but also on the income distribution.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
