| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I focused my research during this year on the cases of the German and Japanese medtech industries, based on the patent database created for this project and other traditional sources. Both cases will form a chapter of the book on the historical development of the global medetch industry I am preparing.
Cooperation with Paloma Fernandes (University of Barcelona) led to the publicatio of a special issue in Business History, entitled "Health Industries in the Twentieth Century".
Finally, a contract was signed with Palgrave Macmillan to deliver a manuscript in early 2021.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
I was unable to go abroad to gather documents in March 2020 due to Covid-19 and reorganized consequently my work. It will however have no manjor impact on the outcome of this project.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
FY2020 is the last year of this research project. As planned, I will focus on the preparation of an authored book, "The formation and growth of the global medtech industry, 1960 to 2015". The conferences I intend to attend were cancelled but I will have no significant impact on publications.

| Causes of Carryover |
The remaining amount of moyen was planned to be used for English check of a paper, which was realized after March 2020.
