Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I have updated my literature review and the background of the research. More in-depth semi-structured interviews have been conducted with four managers in Kyoto. Each interview lasted between 35 and 70 minutes, and all were audiotaped and transcribed. I have presented my preliminary research in two conferences in Thailand and in Indonesia and received constructive feedback and I am going to use the comments into my work. At the same time, I am pleased to inform you that I could manage to publish some academic papers in academic journals: Chen, W., Tajeddini, K., Ratten, V., & Tabari, S. (In press) Educational Immigrants: Evidence from Chinese Young Entrepreneurs in the UK. Journal of Enterprising Communities: People and Place in the Global Economy Ratten, V., & Tajeddini, K. (2019) Entrepreneurship and Sports Business Research: Synthesis and Lessons: Introduction to the Special Journal Issue, Journal of Sport Management and Marketing Vol. 19, No. 1/2, pp. 1-7 Tajeddini, K., & Mueller, S. (in press) Moderating Effect of Environmental Dynamism on the Relationship between a Firm's Entrepreneurial Orientation and Financial Performance, Entrepreneurship Research Journal (Impact Factor:1.25) Ratten, V. & Tajeddini, K. Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The interviews were documented in detail through note taking, with particular attention to key quotations that illustrate different aspects of topics. I first transcribed the notes into transcripts immediately for maximum comparability and then interviewer and the interviewees took it in turn to document the questions and answers with detailed notes, which were later cross-checked for accuracy and reliability. In this process, the text was broken down into discrete parts, not according to syntactic rules (e.g., sentences) but with respect to visible change of meaning in the text.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I have sent around 700 questionnaires via emails to the targeted Swiss firms and received 70 returned and I am in the process of sending the second wave of the survey questionnaires to the firms remaining them to respond. In September 2019, my plan is to send 700 questionnaires to Japanese firms and I hope I can receive at least 20 to 25% response rate. In Japan, I have to send written mail instead of email because of different cultures. The aim is to send two to three questionnaires to each firm to reduce common method variance. After receiving adequate responses, data analysis will be started. combination of qualitative and quantitative will add more values to our research. at the same time, the findings will be presented in different conferences to get solid feedback and improve the research.

Causes of Carryover |
Following the research design, this budget will be used for collecting more data from Switzerland and Japan. I hope I can finalize the data collection. In addition, I will attend some conferences in Singapore and USA presenting my initial findings and getting feedback to improve the work. Also, I would like to extend the licenses of the statistical programs for one year more.
