Outline of Annual Research Achievements

I am pleased to inform you that I could manage to have some insightful and informative interviews and collected a good number of useful questionnaires in 2019. I have presented my preliminary research in a conference in Singapore and received constructive feedback. I succeeded in realizing a high integration of the concepts relating to the collaboration of many similar companies. Although this collaboration is not necessary for marketing, It is evident that collaboration is mostly related to technology sharing. Main achievements include improvement of a deeper understanding of the Japanese firms, evaluation of the current situation in various manufacturing and service firms, and development of a preliminary framework showing the possible relationships among the concepts under the study.

Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

After data collection, I have done the preliminary data analysis, but I realized that I would need to collect some more data. The reason was that the preliminary data analysis indicated the collected data would not show a sensible picture of the concepts. That is why I am going to use another wave to collect some more quantitative data and, if possible, to have up to five face to face interviews with the marketing managers in Osaka and Kyoto. My aim to collect more data hopefully between September and December. Nonetheless, the collected data have already been analyzed and were supposed to present them in a conference in Malaysia, and China but the conferences were canceled due to the COVID19 outbreak. At the same time, I am pleased to inform you that I could manage to publish two academic papers in academic journals.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

- Collecting some more data to have a better picture of concepts both more questionnaire and some interviews between September and December 2020
- Finalizing the currently collected data and hopefully, there is a possibility to analyzes the data that will be collected by the end of December 2020 or late January 2021
- Attending and presenting my final research results to two conferences (one in Asia and one Europe). The timetable is very uncertain because of the current situation of traveling and covid19.

Causes of Carryover

Following the research design, this budget will be used for collecting more data. I plan to conduct up to five face to face interviews with the marketing managers in Osaka and Kyoto. My aim to collect more data hopefully between September and December. In addition, I will attend some conferences to present my initial findings and getting feedback to improve the work. Also, I would like to extend the licenses of the statistical programs for one year more.
