Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
1) For a meta-analysis study, approximately 55 studies on the effects of diversity-focused training programs on employee well-being were collected, and effect sizes were computed. This list of studies was updated this year, and were added to the pool of studies for the final meta-analysis paper. 2) Based on the results of the preliminary scaling research from the first two years, a revised scale was developed; however, no data collection was possible for logistical reasons. 3) Two case studies using qualitative interviews and modified Photovoice methods were attempted, and they would be carried over the following year.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Because of the principal investigator’s administrative commitments, the project was delayed. In addition, the unexpected public health issues in Japan and overseas limited the operation of the project in the final quarter of the project year.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The following research outcomes and products are expected as this will be the final year. a. Completion of the meta-analysis paper; b. Final scale to measure the multi-layered concepts of culture among foreign workers; c. Completion of a manuscript summarizing the findings on the best practices on the effects of culture-based intervention programs; and d. Implementation of an international symposium on “Understanding and Reconceptualizing Diversity in Workplaces in Japan and Beyond”
