Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The purpose of Year 2020 was to develop a conceptual model for intervention programs based on the newly constructed scale on cultural diversity in several industries where foreign-residents work. However, because of logistical issues associated with the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Japan and other places, all of the field-related research activities have been on hold. Instead, while keeping eyes on the possibility of launching interventions after Year 2020, phone and e-mail contacts have been with several companies in Japan, a new meta-analysis project began. This past year, efforts have been expended in identifying and locating relevant empirical studies in order to compute effect-sizes and do meta-regression.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
4: Progress in research has been delayed.
Reason
Given the pandemic situation, the implementation of program implementation and forums/workshops has been held in abeyance; however, negotiations with several companies for future intervention sites are ongoing, and a meta-analysis paper is being written up.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
As soon as the research environment (e.g., safety and willingness of field settings) improves, the project aim: (a) to directly contact at least three industries for program implementation and evaluation, (b) to hold an international conference/workshop on diversity and well-being, and (c) to complete the meta-analysis paper.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Because of the COVID-19 situation in Japan and industry contexts where the majority of the work to be done are being postponed, the proposed activities are being delayed. The remaining budget will be used for local transportation to data collection sites, honoraria for clerical assistance and data entry, and consumables (e.g., printer toners).
