Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We continued our measurements on PCI effects and photoelectron recapture upon photoionization of Ar, Kr, and Xe, utilizing synchrotron beamlines at the SPring8 facility at Harima, as well as the SOLEIL facility in France. The experiments at SOLEIL involved the usage of the PEIADES beamline which allowed access to low photon energies as well as very high photon energy resolution. This was done in collaboration with John Bozek of the SOLEIL facility. Experiments at the Galaxie beamline for somewhat higher energy soft x-rays continued in collaboration with Marc Simon of Sorbonne University. New findings this year included new types of photoelectron correlatoion satellite lines. "The Marc Simon Workshop on Photoionization Dyanamics" was organized by Yoshiro Azuma at Sophia University.

2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
A large body of data was obtained on PCI recapture and new collaborations were initiated with John Bozek at the Pleiades beamline of the SOLEIL facility. Analysis has been catching up and a paper on "Dominance of angular momentum exchange in the PCI recapture of photoelectrons revealed by high resolution Auger electron measurements of Kr" was submitted to Journal of Physics B. Unexpected new effects on photoelectron correlation satellites were also discovered.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Major efforts will be made to analyze the rather large body of data, and publish the results. Supplementary measurements will be made at SPring8 and SOLEIL. Some exploratory attempts for future developments of this project may be made utilizing the ultra high resolution photons at the MAX4 facility in Sweden

Causes of Carryover |
実験の進行状況の都合により、次年度に当初の計画にはなかったフランスの放射光実験施設(SOLEIL)への海外出張を含める必要が生じた。
