Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
1) Pure anatase TiO2 thin film were sucessfully fabricated by mist CVD method. The structural and the optical properies of TiO2 depend on the different conditions were investigated. The large surface area will enhance the sensing property. 2) ZnO nanorods were synthesized by multi-annealing meathod and chemical bath deposition method. The annealing process which carried out in the annealing ambient was improved to enhance the photoluminescencce property of ZnO nanorods. 3) The TiO2 coated ZnO nanorods core shell structures were achieved by mist CVD method. The surface area was improved significantly. 4) The sensing property was demostrated and the results showed the good response to the reducing gas. The results were published in two Journal papers and presented in 5 international confereces.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The first stage of gas sensing property was investigated for three kinds of nanostructures:ZnO nanorods, TiO2 thin film, and TiO2 coated ZnO core shell structures. The results was proven that the synthesis methods were suitable. The optimized process will be adjusted in the coming one year. The mechanism of the synthesis process and the sensing properies were investigaed, which is helpfl on the improving the experimental process for nanostructures control. The mistCVD equipment has the temperature limited requirement which willinflunce on the crstallnity control. however, the post-annealing was found to improve the PL property. which will be an effective method to enhance reducing gas sensing activity.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
In the last year, the optimized process for synthesis nanostructures will be carried out to improve the reducing gas sensitivity including the temperature, response time, and the gas concentration. The test system will be demonstrated both in optical and electrical examining methods. As the scheduled experiments, the photoluminecence property of the nanostructures will be focused. The annealing method in reducing gas will be intoduced to enhance the oxygen vacancied in the different kinds of nanostructures. The mechanism of the PL variation in both intensity and wavelength will be revealed finally. The demonstration of PL type gas sensor will be achived. The results will be published in three journal papers and 4 international conferences.
