Outline of Final Research Achievements

In this study, we attempted to develop an integrated epigenome regulation system and animal model for epigenomic disease. We developed a novel CRISPR-based system for enhancing gene expression. We further constructed an integrated epigenome regulation system with two CRISPR-associated proteins.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では、CRISPRを基盤とした統合的エピゲノム制御システムを構築した。エピゲノムを自在に制御できるシステムを構築することは、エピゲノム疾患モデルの作製のみならず、エピゲノムそのものを解析するツールとしても有用であり、また、エピゲノム疾患の治療への応用やiPS細胞誘導等の細胞運命変換への応用なども可能なため、学術的にも社会的にも重要な成果となり得る。
