Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The protein-bound uremic toxins are known to increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases in patients with chronic kidney disease or undergoing hemodialysis. The aim of this study is to develop the new blood purification method which enables effective removal of protein-bound uremic toxins from the body by adding appropriate binders in the dialysate. Throughout the 3 years of study period, the principal investigator has tried to evaluate the removal rate of protein-bound uremic toxins by in vitro hemodialysis system with dialysate supplemented with various binders. However, the principal investigator could not obtain sufficient data due to the difficulty in setting up the optimal experimental condition. Further study is needed to achieve the final goal of this study.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
