Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
A PMMA phantom was placed at the center of FOV of WGI and irradiated with C-10 beam in the carbon therapy facility of the Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba (HIMAC). The simulation was also carried out for the same scenario. The direct detection of location of C-10 nuclide was impossible and needed an image reconstruction method. The image reconstruction methods for detection of triple-gamma imaging was developed based on simple back projection and OSEM algorithm. The performance of WGI for visualization of C-10 based on both developed image reconstruction algorithm is still under investigation. The preliminary reconstructed images would be so noisy due to low sensitivity of WGI and very low intensity of available C-10 at HIMAC.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The preparation of a manuscript for publication is under preparation. For the purpose, accuracy of measured data needed to be evaluated by performing more experiments and checking reproducibility of measured data. All experiments should be performed at the Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba (HIMAC) using our whole gamma imaging (WGI) system and the number of experiments are so limited.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
For simulated and measured data of irradiated PMMA phantom with a C-10 ion beam image reconstruction is going to be carried out using simple back projection and OSEM algorithm. Then, the final results is going to be submitted for publication in an international journal.

Causes of Carryover |
現在投稿準備中の論文について、測定データの精度と再現性を評価するために追加実験をする必要があることが判明したが、この実験は放医研のHIMACのマシンタイムを利用して行う必要があり、多くの研究者が共同利用しているため、次の割り当ては来年度となっている。そして、この実験のために科研費予算を使用する必要があるため期間を延長する。
