Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have detected the effect of Calorie restriction on the histology of trachea and lung. We have examined the effect of Calorie restriction on lung stem cells, using the in vitro colony forming assay. We have examined the effect of aging on lung inflammation. We found that aging induced lung inflammation. We discovered that Calorie restriction significantly reduced the aging-induced lung inflammation.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Our plan worked as expected, and data are proving our original hypothesis.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We are examining the effect of Calorie restriction on the severity of lung injury. In other words, will the lungs that had been exposed to Calorie restriction be able to resist the injury more than the lung that received standard diet.
|
Causes of Carryover |
This year, some research plans were delayed due to demise of the head of the division. This year, we expect a new head of division coming, and we will undertake the delayed experiments and catch up with the research plan.
