Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aims to clarify the psychological processes and coping elderly widowers following bereavement. Progress on the study was delayed due to Covid-19. However, by 2020, 9 men and 3 women were interviewed for comparison. The interview data were analyzed using qualitative methods to clarify the coping of elderly widowers after bereavement. Based on these results, a survey questionnaire was developed to clarify the relationship between coping after bereavement and mental health in a quantitative study. The researchers completed the questionnaire and conducted a questionnaire survey of elderly people living in the region in 2021. A total of 1,000 copies of the questionnaire were distributed. Of these, 864 copies were collected, and data from 212 bereaved persons were analyzed.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
