Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This project explores the place of tourism in Japan during the war and early post-war periods. It aims to contribute to understanding the larger relationships between tourism and war in modernity.
I gathered materials in both domestic and international libraries in 2018, including the University of Maryland and Yale. I also presented in Melbourne and Monash universities, Australia.
I finished co-editing a special issue of Japan Review (国際日本文化研究センター), titled "Tourism and War in Modern Japan." This international project included the work of thirteen authors. In addition to organizing and editing the special issue, I co-wrote the introduction, contributed one chapter of my own, translated one chapter from Japanese to English, and co-translated another.
