Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the last year of this project, I continued my research on the development of the concept of nature in Japanese philosophy, but I have also started to examine the possible connections between nature and self, and their implications for a new ethics of the environment. My focus of interest shifted toward the relation between human beings and nature in the context of the current environmental / existential crisis. I have made four presentations at international conferences, published one peer-reviewed article, became co-editor for a new series of books on Asian philosophy, and, most importantly, finished the manuscript for the book. The provisional title of the book is "Nature, Self and Language: the Philosophy of Ando Shoeki" - currently under review, it will be published in late 2020.
