Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Thanks to this grant, I was able to conduct field research trips and organize a conference.
During my field trips, I visited the Marie Curie Museum in Paris, where I encountered a wealth of archival documents. The museum provided fascinating insights into the life, work, and times of Marie Curie. I had access to various archival materials and also purchased a substantial amount of books and DVDs in French and English. These resources cover not only Marie Curie's life but also that of her daughter, Irene Curie, and Dr. Frederique Joliot-Curie, both of whom were engaged in peace activism. I learned a great deal on this topic that I hope to use in future articles.
Additionally, I had the opportunity to tour the fusion research facility ITER in the south of France. It was fascinating to learn about this international research project, which also involves Japan. I could compare with the research facilities in particle physics that I had previously visited (CERN and the Fermilab). I also visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum several times to explore temporary exhibitions, archives, and the new permanent exhibition. The new exhibition provided valuable information and resources.
Furthermore, I organized a conference with two scholars to discuss the impact of uranium mining in the US for nuclear weaponry and the effects of nuclear tests in the Pacific. Specifically, we covered the impact of uranium mining in the Navajo Nation and the nuclear testing in French Polynesia. The event was online and in-person, and with live English-Japanese translation
