本研究では日本語と韓国語において、幼児の音素獲得の過程を音響音声学的知見とともに心理言語学的実験によって明らかにする。また、日本語と韓国語の対照を行い、音韻体系が異なる言語間にどのような違いが存在するかを一般言語学な観点から考察することを目標としている。
2023年度は、韓国語の標準語であるソウル方言において、IDS（Infant-Directed Speech）とADS（Adult-Directed Speech）の破擦音で現れる音響的な特徴の違いに関する研究結果を国際学会で発表した。（International Congress of Phonetic Sciences 2023、タイトル：Input distribution of Korean affricates in the context of a diachronic sound change: comparison between IDS and ADS）具体的には、お母さんの音声データの音響分析を行い、ADSよりIDSで有気音と平音の音響的特徴の差が大きくなるということが分かった。この結果で、よくIDSで観察される音韻対立の拡大は全ての対立ではなく、特定の対立に対して現れることが明らかになった。（selective enhancement）
また、日本語の東京方言における幼児の音声データの音響分析をおこなった。具体的に３歳および４歳児の発話でhigh vowel devoicingがどういうふうに現れるかを検証した。その結果、３歳児では大人に比べて語中の無性化率が低く、個人差が大きかったが、４歳児では個人差が縮小され大人と近い無性化率に発達することが明らかになった。この結果は国際学会（Interspeech 2024）で発表する予定である。
