Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In FY2020-21 (April 2020 - March 2021) limited new research was conducted. All research for this kakenhi grant was completed in 2019-2020. I applied for one year of extension to the research in March 2020 due to COVID-19 having an negative impact on my capacity to disseminate research results. Four international conference presentations, for which proposals had been reviewed and accepted, became impossible due to COVID-19. The situation did not improve much in 2020-21. In 2020-21 I focused on disseminating research results to the best of my ability. This took the form of ①two publications, ②a plenary talk, and ③discussion with an online ALT training forum about possible collaboration. ①Two open-access manuscripts were published. The first is a conference proceedings paper was published via the Japanese Association for Language and Teaching (JALT) in August 2020. The second is in an international, impact-factor psychology journal published in September 2020. The findings of this study have directly informed the research agenda for two additional grant applications. ②First, I briefly referenced this kakenhi-supported research in October 2020 when I was the plenary speaker for the Yamaguchi Prefecture Board of Education JET Programme Skill Development Conference (online). ③Finally, I am discussing the possibility of sharing the entire dataset with a group of researchers known as "Assistant Language Teachers Training Online" in order to encourage further analysis of the dataset and publication of the results with a wider audience. Discussions are ongoing.
