Outline of Final Research Achievements

The objective of the present study is to consider support that based on regional characteristics of hilly and mountainous. To achieve this goal, we conducted a quantitative survey, measured social support networks and related items in hilly and mountainous areas, and verify regional differences. The survey areas are five municipalities in the hilly and mountainous areas of Kochi Prefecture. The subjects of the survey are all elderly people aged 75 and over. The results of the survey revealed that the tendency of scores for civic participation, social cohesion, and reciprocity differed among districts within the hilly and mountainous areas.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では、これまで明らかにされてこなかった中山間地域内の差異に焦点を当てて、量的調査により、中山間地域で暮らす高齢者のソーシャルサポートネットワークおよび関連する項目を測定したことである。これらの分析結果は、今後、中山間地域における支援方法を検討するにあたって、データや根拠に基づく基礎資料となる点で、学術的および社会的意義があると考える。
