Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research project explored a way to change students’ conception of letters in school mathematics. To this end, this project conducted teaching experiment with ICCAMS materials based on a way for changing their conceptions of letters.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

これまで数学的な記号としての文字に対する生徒の理解について，多くの研究が行われてきた。それらの研究では多くの生徒の実態が報告されているが，その理解を促進させる方法については十分には明らかにされてこなかった。本研究はこの方法を学習指導の方法と教材の特質に焦点を当てて明らかにしようとしたものであり，この点に学術的意義がある。また，学習指導要領や教育振興基本計画では，ICTを活用した学習指導の推進が強く求められており，その推進に資する教授実験を計画・実施したことに本研究の社会的意義がある。
