Observational study of extremely emission line galaxies: implication for early galaxy formation and the cosmic reionization

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2017年度までに、広帯域フィルターによる撮像データを用いて、静止系可視光にある[OIII]5007輝線がきわめて強い赤方偏移z=3-3.7程度の星形成銀河 (EELG) を効率よく選択する手法を確立した。2018年度は、すばる望遠鏡のMOIRCSを用いて分光学的に同定された19天体の赤方偏移3を越えるEELGについて、静止系可視光輝線および、広帯域フィルターの測光データを用いたEELGの性質の調査を開始した。2019年は前述の調査をより詳細におこない、最新のスペクトルエネルギー分布フィットコードをもちいた恒星質量や、遠方銀河の最新の文献にもとづいた星形成率、ダストによる減光量を導出した。また、得られた輝線をもちいた輝線比診断や、水素電離光子生成効率の導出をおこなった。その結果、特に恒星質量が10億太陽質量より小さな低質量EELGはより大質量のEELGに比べ、より小さなダスト減光量、より高い[OIII]輝線の等価幅、より大きな[OIII]/[OII]輝線比、より大きな水素電離高姿勢成功率を示す傾向があることがわかった。これは、低質量EELGは非常に若いバースト的な星形成活動をしており、電離光子の放出が極めて効率的におこなわれているためであると解釈した。先行研究との比較から、これらの低質量EELGの中で特に高い[OIII]輝線の等価幅と[OIII]/[OIII]輝線比を示す天体が、宇宙再電離期の銀河の性質として重要なライマン連続光の脱出率が高い銀河であると結論づけた。今後、さらなる追観測による調査をおこなうことがのぞましい。
