Study of superconducting symmetry and magnetic response in the uranium exotic superconductors using high-quality single crystals

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究では強い相関を持つ遍歴5f電子がもとになって非従来型超伝導を示すウラン化合物に着目し、超伝導対称性及び非フェルミ液体異常の解明を目指し研究を進めてきた。2019年度はウラン系超伝導や非フェルミ液体的状態の研究にとどまらず、5f電子系の強磁場物性や新奇磁性体の探索も行った。

まず、前年度から継続して重い電子系超伝導体UBe13及びTh置換系の単結晶・多結晶における極低温電気抵抗・比熱測定を行った。2018年度後半に発表したUBe13における高圧下極低温実験では、超伝導の消失とその非フェルミ液体状態‐フェルミ液体クロスオーバーが6GPaで同時に起こることを突き止めたが、一方でUBe13系において格子定数を大きくする「負の圧力効果」をもたらすTh置換(或はUの希釈効果)によって、この系の異常な超伝導・常伝導相がどのように変化するかも系統的にアプローチした。その結果U1-xThxBe13でも非フェルミ液体状態‐フェルミ液体クロスオーバーが観測され、さらには母物質UBe13の圧力下で観測されたように、負の磁気抵抗が正の磁気抵抗に切替わる振舞いが観測された。UBe13の超伝導とその非フェルミ液体状態(磁気抵抗の振舞い)が密接に関わっていることを示す、重要な結果である。

また非従来型超伝導体UPd2Al3・UNi2Al3および置換系U(Pd1-xNix)2Al3のパルス強磁場磁化測定も実施した。これらの系や新奇超伝導体UTe2において極低温磁化・比熱測定も併せて行った。特にパルス強磁場磁化測定からはU(Pd1-xNix)2Al3における遍歴メタ磁性転移を観測し、UNi2Al3に関する磁化測定ではウラン系における最高磁場下(78テスラ)でのメタ磁性を観測することに成功した。さらにU(Pd1-xNix)2Al3系における磁化率極大現象とメタ磁性転移点に系統的な関係があることを見出した。
