Outline of Final Research Achievements

Graphene nanoribbon network (GNN) which is extended to two dimension from one dimensional nano carbon material, graphene nanoribbon were fabricated via two-zpne chemical vapor deposition using various precursors. Densely packed arrays of prepolymers on Au(111) were successfully converted into GNN via interchain fusion by thermal annealing. Additionally, we have succeeded in surface synthesis of nitrogen-doped nano carbon materials on Au(111) by introducing nitrogen into precursor.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究ではボトムアップ法による新規ナノ炭素材料の開発を目的とした。一次元状のグラフェンナノリボンの表面合成については、分子の基板への分子吸着シミュレーショにより、GNRが生成するか否かを予め予測できることを示し、また、グラフェンナノリボンを分子間反応させることで一次元状のグラフェンナノリボンを精密に二次元ナノ炭素材料に拡張できる可能性を実証した。これらの結果は今後のナノ炭素材料開発に対して有用な指針を示した。
