Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
spin-torque-oscillator (STO) was designed and developed for microwave assisted magnetic recording (MAMR), the next generation of recording technology with areal density>2Tb/in2. I have shown the importance of high spin polarized materials to be used as spin-injection-layer in mag-flip STO to reduce the current density required for the oscillation of STO. We have demonstrated this STO experimentally. I also proposed desired materials for a novel STO, all-in-plane STO that overcomes the thickness limitation (<20nm) of STO for MAMR. We could develop this device for the first time in the world and discussed its oscillation behavior. This unique teamwork had not only a great academic impact but also has attracted a great attention from media industry.
