Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study revealed relationship between microstructure of MgH2 and surface treatment, hydrogenation condition, catalyst, and grain boundary of Mg. Ti-based alloys possessed catalytic effect and the effects were investigated with chemical reactions.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
Mgは理論的には高容量水素貯蔵密度を有しながらも、実容量を理論容量まで到達させるには、Mg粉末の微粉化や高ひずみの導入、触媒添加など様々な処理が必要となる。本研究成果により、Mgの水素化過程は表層のみならず内部からも水素化可能であることを示し、ハンドリングの良い水素貯蔵材料開発に資する結果が得られた。特にTi系合金で触媒能を発現することが可能であることが示され、材料の高機能化の一助となると期待される。
