Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Mammalian sperm undergo a physiological process, called capacitation during fertilization. During capatication, calcium influx, hyperpolarization, alkalinization occur in the sperm. However the relationship among them is not well understood. Here we established experimetal system to examine this. We succeeded in detecting pH change during capactation and also succeeced to detect alkalinization induced hyperpolarization by performing patch clamp from sperm. With these techniques we found some important knowledge of physiological change in mouse sperm during capacitation.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究によりこれまで明らかにされてこなかった哺乳類の精子が受精時に示している生理動態について、より詳細な知見を得ることが出来ると期待される。これにより、将来的には不妊治療などにも適用できることが期待される。
