Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study clarified the relationship between family history of colorectal cancer (history of colorectal cancer in first-degree relatives) and the prevalence of advanced colorectal neoplasia in a screened population. A positive family history is associated with a higher prevalence of advanced colorectal neoplasia in younger individuals aged <55 years. The impact of a positive family history is weaker in older individuals aged 55 years or older; however, even in older individuals, a family history of two or more affected first-degree relatives is a strong risk factor for advanced colorectal neoplasia.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
