Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we aimed to establish prediction models for hypothyroidism, xerostomia and dysgeusia following intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) or volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) for head and neck cancer. We demonstrated a prediction model for hypothyroidism based on the median thyroid dose. This model is applicable to radiotherapy planning for patients with head and neck cancer. We could not reveal any predictive factors for xerostomia or dysgeusia. Future studies are necessary to construct a risk model for xerostomia or dysgeusia.
