Outline of Final Research Achievements |
This study demonstrated that dexmedetomidine enhances oxytocin-induced contractions of pregnant rat myometrium more than propofol and sevoflurane. Inhibition of myofilament calcium sensitivity may have caused the inhibition of myometrial contraction by sevoflurane. Arachidonic acid may play an important role in the enhancement of myometrial contraction induced by dexmedetomidine through enhancing myofilament calcium sensitivity. Dexmedetomidine would be an advantageous anaesthetic agent during caesarean sections.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
