Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2018 to 2019, the results of this project led to two two articles that were published in major academic journals and several academic presentations at international conferences. First, the results of a portion of this research project were published in the international journal of applied linguistics in 2018. The title of the article is "Beyond Intelligibility: 'Transintelligibility' phenomena in English as a Lingua Franca interactions" and was published as a co-authored article (George O'Neal & Yumi Matsumoto). The culmination of the results of this project were published in the journal of second language pronunciation in 2019. The title of the article is "the accommodation of intelligible segmental pronunciation: segmental repairs and adjustments in English as a Lingua Franca interactions" and was single authored (George O'Neal). The results of this project were also presented at several interactional conferences. A portion of the results of this project were presented at the annual English as a Lingua Franca conference in London (2018). Another portion of the results of this project were presented at the Sociolinguistics conference in New Zealand (2018). Yet another portion of the results of this project were presented at the Pronunciation and Second Language Learning conference in Iowa (2018).
