Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research aims to analyze the cultural situation in French Indochina in the 1930s from literary and social perspectives, and to reveal the cultural intersections between Vietnam and France that have not been focused on until now. From FY2017 to FY2023, the research output has resulted in 4 research papers, 9 conference presentations (including 1 international conference), 1 publication, 1 translation, and 1 serialization in a journal.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

フランスとインドシナについての研究はこれまで歴史や社会的な面からは多くの研究がなされてきたが、文学からのアプローチはまだ少なかった。とくにフランス式教育を受けたベトナム人知識人の出版物に関しては、その後ベトナムが独立したことにより日の目をみることがなかった。今回本研究で扱ったグエン・ヴァン・ヴィンは長い間親仏主義者として見られていたが、彼が目指していたのはフランスに同化することではなく、フランス語を用い他のフランス植民地と連携することで、ベトナムが社会的にも、経済的にも独立することだった。この点は今までの研究では言及されておらず、本研究の成果といえる。
