Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Drawing on the Daoist yin/yang dialectics and the notion of qi that stress a relational ontology and inter-connectedness, this project is a preliminary attempt to explore why and how East Asian medical thought and practice can facilitate alternative ways of thinking, doing, being, and relating in East Asian conflict transformations through restoring balance to the East Asian "body". My special issue proposal for Third World Quarterly (Routledge) was approved in April 2020 and one of my co-authored articles is currently under the second-round review.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The COVID-19 pandemic slowed the project down in AY2020. Although it was originally set as the last phase of the project, my research members and I had to accommodate many new measures for our teaching and administration upon a short notice. Research and writing became more difficult when our time was fragmented. As a guest editor of the aforementioned special issue, it has proven time-consuming to successfully invite suitable reviewers for the manuscripts. The reviewing process has also become lengthy. Despite all the difficulties, all members remain healthy and two articles have been published by TWQ online in March 2021.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The primary (and only) task in AY2021 is to publish all research findings. Two more articles will be published by TWQ online in May 2021. The remaining six articles should appear in the second half of 2021 and the entire special issue is expected to get published in early 2022. The special issue will form the basis of an edited volume, and I will look for a suitable international academic publishing house in early 2022.
