Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This research project draws on East Asian medical insights for treating longstanding regional conflicts as political illness. In so doing, it seeks to go beyond conventional state-centric paradigms in the study of international relations that perpetuate such conflicts in the first place. In AY2021, project members (including the Principal Investigator) published three articles with Third World Quarterly (Routledge) as part of its forthcoming special issue on 'Political Healing in East Asian International Relations'.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Due to the ongoing pandemic in AY2021, it took longer time for the PI and other project members to complete research and writing and for the reviewers and editors to perform quality control. One member was not able to contribute her manuscript to the forthcoming special issue at the end because of her health issues and over-commitment. However, three articles (one co-authored by the PI) were published online first and three more (one co-authored by the PI) were submitted to the journal for review.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
AY2022 is the extended and last phase of this project. One article was accepted by Third World Quarterly for publication in April and it is expected that the other two will be accepted in a few weeks. The PI will submit the introductory article for the special issue by summer 2022 and it is expected that the entire issue will be available in the second half of the year.
