Research Abstract

電気四極子を観測できる超音波計測法を用いて, 希土類Pr化合物における非クラマース2重項の四極子効果, カゴ状化合物における局所振動のラットリング, シリコン原子空孔での電荷状態など新しい強相関量子相の研究を進めており, 平成20年度の成果を述べる。
(1) 非クラマース2重項基底をもつ希土類Pr化合物PrMg_3, PrInAg_2, PrPb_3では, 弾性定数(C_<11>-C_<12>)/2に顕著なソフト化が現れる。特に, PrMg_3は相転移を示さないにも関わらず0.5K以下の極低温で(C_<11>-C_<12>)12のソフト化が停止秘し, Γ_3基底がもつ電気四極子が伝導電子に遮蔽される四極子近藤状態が実現していると考えられる。また, Γ_3基底-Γ_4第一励起状態の結晶場準位をもつPrMg_3, PrInAg_2, PrPb_3に, 共通に弾性定数(C_<11>-C_<12>)/2に顕著な極小を見いだし, Γ_3型の歪みと結合する電気16極子を考慮することで理解できることを示した。(2) 充填スクッテルダイト化合物で重い電子超伝導を示すPrOs_4Sb_<12>とBCS超伝導を示すLaOs_4Sb_<12>の混晶系の超音波実験を進め, 熱活性ラットリングに起因する超音波分散を観測した。凸超伝導転移近傍での量子トンネリングによる低温ソフト化の精密な実験的検証を行い, 超伝導相で弾性定数のソフト化が停止し四極子の自由度が失われることを観測した。BCS超伝導体であるLaOs_4Sb_<12>では低温ソフト化が影響を受けないことから, カゴの中での希土類イオンの非調和振動と重い電子超伝導との強い相関を明らかにした。(3) ボロンドープFZシリコン結晶について[111]方向の超音波計測を行い, 試料の切り出し位置に依存した低温ソフト化を観測し, 原子空孔濃度が異なることを見いだした。また, 磁場中では低温ソフト化が消失し, 電荷状態は磁性をもったV^+であることを示し, スピン-軌道相互作用にもとづく解析を行った。
