Research Abstract

1)日本海中部から得られたコアの最終間氷期について砕屑物中の風成塵起源石英のESR信号強度分析、結晶化度分析を行い、最終間氷期以降の偏西風軸位置の変動を高時間解像度で復元した。その結果、最終間氷期極相期後半には、完新世後期と同程度に偏西風が安定して北上したが、それ以外の時期には、全般には南下すると共に数百年スケールで激しく南北振動したことが解った。
2)東シナ海北部から得られたコアについて浮遊性有孔虫殻の酸素同位体比およびMg/Ca比の分析を行い、最終氷期における夏季モンスーン降水変動を高時間解像度で復元した。その結果、D-Oサイクルに連動して表層水温、表層塩分が変動したことが明らかになった。
3)最終氷期から後氷期について、東シナ海北部の夏季表層塩分、表層水温から推定した中国南部の夏季降水量変動と、日本海堆積物中の風成塵起源石英の供給源、粒度から推定した偏西風軸位置および強度変動を比較した結果、南中国の降水量と偏西風軸の位置が数百～数千年スケールで連動して変動したことが示された。これは、偏西風軸位置が夏季モンスーンフロント北限を規定し、それが南中国の夏季降水量を変化させたことを示唆する。ただし、偏西風軸位置変動と南中国における夏季降水量変動の関係は、氷期と間氷期で逆転していた。これは、偏西風軸の平均位置が氷期と間氷期で異なるからと思われる。
4)ベーリング海陸棚斜面から得られたコアについて、底生有孔虫殻の酸素、炭素同位体比、化学組成、粒度、堆積構造を最終氷期から融氷期について調べ、中層水の流速とベンチレーションが、D-OサイクルやYDに連動して変動したことが明らかにした。一方、オホーツク海では、同時期に中層は停滞しており、氷期には、北太平洋中層水の形成場がベーリング海からオホーツク海にスイッチし、D-Oサイクルに連動して間欠的に形成されたことが示された。
