Research Abstract

近年、申請者らは、室温近傍で強磁性母相から非磁性相へとマルテンサイト変態を生じるNi_2MnIn基形状記憶合金を見出した。本研究では、これらNi基およびCo基機能性ホイスラー化合物に関して、その磁気変態や相安定性等の基礎物性を明らかにした上で、これら基礎研究の成果を利用し新規機能性ホイスラー材料の磁気アクチュエータ、磁気冷凍、TMRデバイスへの応用を目指すものである。最終年度である平成21年度の研究内容は、以下に示すとおりである。
(I)状態図の研究
平成20年度に引き続き、Co-Mn-Ga,Ni-Mn-Ga,Fe-Mn-Ga等いままでに報告の無い3元系状態図をコンビナトリアル法を用いて実験的に決定した。また、昨年度に引き続き本研究で実験的に決定された状態図に基づいてCo-W-Moなど3元系状態図の熱力学解析を行った。
(II)メタ磁性形状記憶合金および磁気冷凍材料の研究
平成21年度は、新たにFeNiCoAl系で磁性形状記憶合金を見出した。また、今までに見出されたNiCoMnIn系、NiCoMnSn系、NiCoMnAl系およびFeMnGa系についての基本的物性を明らかにし、FeMnGa系では、母相やマルテンサイト相の結晶構造や磁気的性質との関連を明確にした。
(III)ハーフメタル材料の研究
高い理論分極率、相安定性とキュリー温度を兼ね備えた合金系を提案するための基礎研究を引き続き実施した。Co2FeZにおけるZサイトをSi,Ge,SnといったGa以外の元素にして相安定性と磁気特性の評価を行った。また、X_2MnAlにおけるXサイトをNiやCuなどといったCo以外の元素にしてその相安定性とハーフメタル特性の評価を行った。
