Research Abstract

老化ならびに発育傷害やスポーツ活動中の不慮の事故等による骨格筋線維の萎縮や機能低下は、Quality of Lifeの著しい低下を招く。さらに疾病など健康の維持に問題が生じ、医療費の増大につながる。したがって、予防介護の観点からも、骨格筋線維の萎縮や機能低下を抑制することは重要な課題である。同様に、健康・スポーツ領域においても、骨格筋量や機能の維持はきわめて重要である。本研究では、免疫系と筋衛星細胞の役割に着目し、骨格筋の萎縮や機能低下、ならびにそれらの回復・再生におけるマクロファージ、サイトカインおよび筋衛星細胞の役割解明を目指す。さらに、筋の回復・再生を助長させるための衛生細胞の増殖・分化促進策を細胞内シグナルの視点から検討する。
