Research Abstract

ニワトリは早成鳥であるがために家禽として重要な位置を占めてきた。その一方で、恒温動物であり、体温が高いものと認識されてきた。ところが、孵化後しばらくは体温調節がうまく機能せず、短期間の体温維持しかできないために保温が必要となる。この原因を解明するために本研究を遂行し、以下の成果を得た。
多くの神経ペプチドは遊離脂肪酸をエネルギー源として体温調節に働くが、体内の貯蔵脂肪には限りがあるために長期間の体温維持は困難である。また、活動による運動エネルギーも体温維持に貢献することが判明した。行動量に影響を及ぼす栄養素は多く存在することも判明した。
ミトコンドリアの熱産生分子であるニワトリ脱共役タンパク質(avUCP)とミトコンドリア陰イオン交換体(MACP)の一つであるアデニンヌクレオチド輸送体(avANT)の発現は低温暴露しても変化せず、脂肪酸の代謝に関連する酵素の働きでエネルギー産生に傾くことが明らかとなった。
孵化後のエネルギー代謝に関わる残存卵黄の貢献を調べたところ、その除去により肝臓における脂肪酸分解と糖新生に関わる遺伝子の発現が高まった。残存卵黄は、脂肪酸供給ならびに糖新生に貢献することが判明した。
