Research Abstract

パラオ諸島において発見された高さ4.7mという巨大ハマサンゴ群体のコアを採取して,骨格年輪の酸素同位体比とSr/Ca比の分析を行う.分析結果に基づいて水温・塩分変動を月単位で復元して,過去450年間(A.D.1550年から現在まで)の海洋環境変化を復元する.復元された海洋環境変化史から,ENSOのシグナルを抽出,ENSOの長期変調を明らかにして,大気-海洋結合モデルによるENSOの長期シミュレーション結果と比較して,長期的な気候変動のメカニズムを解明する.
