| Research Abstract |
成体嗅球では新しい神経細胞が神経回路に組み込まれているが、これが既存の神経細胞にどの様に影響されるかは不明である。遺伝子操作マウスを用いて嗅球の既存の神経細胞のサブタイプ(mGluR2陽性細胞)を選択的に除去したところ、新生mGluR2陽性顆粒細胞が優先的に組み込まれ、2ヶ月後にはmGluR2 陽性顆粒細胞がほぼ元通りに回復した。新生神経細胞は、不足した既存の神経細胞サブタイプを補って、神経回路を修復する能力を持つことが明らかとなった。
