Research Abstract |
In the study we have translated and revised "Sui shu Yin yue zhi." Moreover, through the analysis of the revised text, we have revealed the process through which Court music and its system had been arranged and integrated from the end of Northern and Southern Dynasties to the Sui Dynasty. We have also clarified the transition of Court music from the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the Sui Dynasty. That is to say, in the Southern Dynasties, the Liang Dynasty reformed Court music. The reformation, through the improvement by the Chen Dynasty, had a great influence on the development of Court music by the Sui Dynasty. Furthermore, in the Northern Dynasties, the legitimate music and illegitimate music were united into a new style of Court music, and then it was assimilated into the formal and informal music of the Sui Dynasty.
