Research Abstract

液晶ゲルが電場に高速応答して複屈折変化とともにマクロ変形する(電気光学力学効果)ことを見いだし, 液晶配向とひずみの関係を明らかにした. 液晶ゲルを伸長すると, わずかな力で伸長方向に液晶が再配向することを示した.また, 液晶再配向時に異方的な変形が起こることを見いだした.膜の表裏面間で液晶配向が90 度回転した液晶ゲルを創製し, 温度変化が誘起するらせん配向変化によってマクロ変形が生じることを発見した.
