Research Abstract

本研究では、STM探針を用いたSi(111)√3x√3-Ag表面へのナノサイズ閉曲線の書き込み、およびAg(111)超薄膜表面に核形成したナノ島への表面電子状態の量子閉じ込めにおいて、閉じ込め構造のサイズ・形状を変化させることで原子・分子様な任意の離散的電子状態を人工的に制御形で実現できることを検証した。また任意のサイズ・形状の閉じ込め構造に対する量子状態の数値計算ツールの開発した。さらに形状がナノサイズレベルの場合には、量子構造は室温においても観測できること、および閉じ込めポテンシャルを評価する際のS波近似の適用限界を明らかにし、さらにこれを超えるS+P+D波近似での評価方法を開発した。
