Research Abstract |
We described the fabrication of a MFI zeolite membrane reactor for the esterification reaction in order to shift the equilibrium in favor of the ester formation and to improve the conversion of the reaction and a novel pervaporation catalytic membrane reactor for the oxidation of isopropanol by TS-I membranes. We have reported the performance of zeolitic membranes which are the most favorable one for pervaporation. Here, we reported on the hydrothermal synthesis of MFI zeolite membrane such as ZSM-5 and TS-1 membranes and their pervaporation properties. Synthetic parameters such as the reaction time, temperature, molar ratio of the starting gel, aging, and seed coating were investigated in order to optimize the pervaporation performance of the membrane. The kinetic parameters of the reaction were calculated and a simple model was used to described the catalytic activity of the membrane reactor.
