Research Abstract |
イネ特有の代謝酵素である葉緑体局在性ホスホエノールピルビン酸カルボキシラーゼ(PEPC)は、無機窒素を有機物に取り込む際必要な炭素化合物(有機酸)を作る働きをもつこと、イネはこの酵素が関与する独自の代謝経路をもち、この経路が水田のような湛水環境での無機窒素の利用に重要な役割を担うことが明らかにされた。葉緑体局在性PEPCは、光合成で固定された炭素の代謝と無機窒素の取り込みという、生産性に関わるふたつの過程をつなぐ鍵酵素であり、本酵素の関与する代謝経路の全容を理解することによって、イネの生産性の決定要因が明らかにされるものと期待される。
