| Research Abstract |
一般的には対立的に捉えられ、学術的にも別個に研究されてきたキリスト教とイスラームであるが、本研究は、これら二大宗教が古来根付いていたエチオピアにおいては、共存・融合の実態がみられることに着目し、<異教共存>という新たな研究領野を切り拓くことを目指したものである。毎年度エチオピア東部を中心に平均2回の現地調査を実施した結果、北東部ウォロ出身の改宗ムスリム女性の聖者モーミナを崇敬の対象とする「ファラカサ・カルト」が全国にネットワーク状の拡がりをもってみられ、この地域カルトに異教共存・融合の特徴がみられることがわかった。そして、異教共存・融合という特徴が、19世紀末から20世紀初めにかけてエチオピア帝国が領土を拡張し正教会を正統原理として国家統一を図る動乱の時代を生き抜いたムスリム聖者モーミナの人生史に由来することも明らかにした。
